Loramie Township

    Loramie township is crossed at the northeast corner to the center west line by the C.C.C. & I.R.R. railroad.  The northeast part of the township is crossed by the Canal & Loramie Creek.  The surface of Loramie township is, for the most part, level and the west side is even low and flat.  the soil is rich and yields abundantly of cereals and grasses.

Prior to 1812 Settlement of this township dates back to the time immediately following the War of 1812.  Samuel McClure, with his wife and children, settled in the area prior to 1812.

Autumn 1815 William Morrow came from Cumberland, PA.
1816 William Johnston of PA and John Patterson.
1817 Wm Skillen came from Westmoreland county, PA.
Prior 1817 Zebediah Richardson, Wm Anderson, and Thomas Wyatt.
1818 Henry Zemer and Jacob Black.
1820 Jacob Everley, David Clark, Henry Harp, and Robert Johnston.

1826 William Ellis came from Miami County.

1833 John Worley (of PA) and Jacob Rouston (of MD).

1837 Jacob S. Apple came from Montgomery County, J.J. Debrosse, Joseph Gaible.
1838 John B. Malliott, Frederick Bishop (of German birth), and Amos Peppiot.
1838/9 J.R. Griffis came from Butler County.

1843 Henry S. Apple came from Montgomery county.

Mt. Jefferson Presbyterian Church Organized December 31, 1848 by Rev. J.A. Meeks of Piqua.   A brick church was dedicated January, 2, 1850 by Rev. Thomas Elcock.
Beech Grove United Brethren Society Organized about 1866 at the Apple school house by Rev. Wiliam Mittendorf.  On September 5, 1869, the church was dedicated by Revs. White and Fritz of Dayton.
Mt. Jefferson Christian Church Organized in 1849 by Elder Cabeb Wooley and Elder James Fahnestock with eight members in attendance. In 1852, a frame church was built in Mt. Jefferson.
Methodist Episcopal Church This branch was organized in 1825 by Rev. Levi White & John Woodney at the house of Thomas Wyatt.  In 1832, a hewed log house was built and was dedicated December 1836 by Rev. James Findley.  In 1854, a frame church was built in Mt. Jefferson.  In 1876, the church was dissolved.
The St. James German Reformed Church Organized in 1867 by Rev. Jacob Weaver.  On September, 14, 1881, a church was dedicated by Revs. Shaw & Weaver.
