With a steady healthy growth each
year
brings to Sidney new enterprises or the enlargement of old ones.
As announced some time ago in this paper, I. H. Thedieck procured
the whole of Wagner's hall for the use of his wholesale and retain sale
of carpets and curtains. This room is in the third story of the
Wagner
building and has a floor space of 54x100 feet, well lighted from
both ends. To make it convenient
and available it was necessary to put in an elevator, this has been
done
by putting in an improved water motor elevator that carrys customers
from
the general store on the first floor to the cloak department on the
second
floor or the carpet and curtain room on the third floor or to the
basement.
During the past week his spring stock had been put in and arranged for
display. Mr. Thedieck had taken the opportunity of informing the
public through the Democrat and Daily News that he would have a grand
opening
yesterday and that every body was cordially invited to come and see the
improvements he had made and the opening of his new spring stock.
It was a grand affair and indeed a grand success. Through the day many
hundred of people visited the store but last evening the number reached
into the thousands. In the evening no goods were sold
and the visitors were just shown through
the store, and for two hours there was a vast throng of people
continually
coming and going. The Sidney orchestra furnished excellent music
for the occasion. Flowers were distributed among the
visitors.
The store was tastefully arranged and is being well light with
electricity
and gas presented a beautiful appearance throughout. Mr.
Thedieck
may well feel proud of his store as he has one of the largest and
finest
in this part of the State."
